The video opens with an interview Bunny Wailer gave to JBCTV in which he describes the coming events. Then the action heats up with the arrival of the Rastafari motorcade which had circled the island through the centennial year: Trucks and buses, motorcycles and cars, all gaily decorated with the Ites, gold and green of the Ethiopian Kingdom.
Dawta Dean at Mandela Park |
The program commences at Mandela Park with a ringing tribute spoken in Amharic by Dawta Dean. The Binghi drums resound as old dreads, young dreads, Rasta Idren and beautiful queens dance and chant their praises to the Almighty. Abruptly the proceedings are interupted by a distraught Babylonian woman who tries to pass off a Michelangelo painting of the "white" Jesus to the master of ceremonies. Like a rock cast into a nest of hornets, the misdirected woman is stung soundly by the invictives of those on the stage. It was just the pepper needed to make the stew HOT. Soon the entire entourage and the thousands of spectators are singing a stirring rendition of the Ethiopian national anthem, followed by a hotter-yet fiery reading by Bona Geeze... then the Emperor speaks, in English.
The action at Mandela is generously laced with photographs and previously unseen motion pictures of His Majesty and Royal family. Behold! is sure to be a classic, once in a lifetime moment that will be treasured by everyone attracted to the strength, wisdom and beauty of HIS Imperial Majesty, and to the sons and daughters of Rastafari who forever keep the flame of His love burning.
Behold! will be distributed by Edward George Patterson. All Rasta organizations will be able to purchase the videos at wholesale in order to resell them to support their individual endeavors. All profits from its international sales will go toward running the Haile Selassie I Iniversity of Higher Reason. A school that will help the handicapped and the poor acquire skills never before available.
